Concept Digital Drivers license

The Challenge

As time has gone on and technology has improved drastically, the

physical drivers license often feels like an outdated form of identification

that lacks clarity and convenience for users in a tech heavy world

The Solution

A digital form of a user's drivers license that makes every experience

convenient, ensures security, and eliminates the worry of losing an

important form of identification

Research

Data Minimization

All physical driver's licenses require a reveal in personal information such as one's address which can often feel insecure when an ID is requested in a non government related setting.

Lack of Security

Physical forms of identification are far more susceptible to being stolen and forged; along with this, acquiring a replacement form of identification can cause stress and hiatuses in a user's lifestyle.

Cluttered Design of Licenses

The current Maine driver’s license features a large amount of illustrative elements to it. The type is differentiated by color but the typographical hierarchy and organization is very messy. When reading through a Maine driver’s license, the text is very small and takes lots of effort to read

The Target audience

Maine ID being a piece of technology that needs to remain accessible for all demographics, I needed to take into account people's needs from either side of the spectrum and account for both of their frustrations and goals

Style Development

Maine's Visual Identity

One of my goals was to create something that not only fit in a formal

purpose, but also represent Maine's culture and identity. So I created

two inspiration boards, one for color and aesthetic and one for design

style and layout

Reflection

This project really taught me about the importance of design iteration

that no matter the number of iterations that are done, there is always

a way you could improve upon the last.

I also learned a lot about creating an interface that condense a vast

amount of information to the confinements of a phone screen in a way

that legible and created hierarchy.
